TIFF Red Carpet Video Release Party---Pre Show

It's been a very long time since I have updated the blog and for that I am very sorry! I will do some posts about the previous shows and shoots we have done, very soon.

Today, however, I am giving you a pre show chat about tonights event! Tonight, at Nocturne Nightclub in Toronto, we will be photographing, alongside other photographers, the Red Carpet arrival, the performances and the video releases of 10 world premiere music video from some of  Toronto's HOTTEST hip hop artists! There will even be a sneak peak at the new Hip Hop Documentary, Alais.

HEMI 69 live in the Hammer

Just recently, in January 2013, I had the opportunity alongside my husband, to photograph a band that is very close to my heart. We unfortunately couldn't stay for more then one set, due to circumstances beyond our control, but it had been almost 9.5 years since we had seen them perform.

It was a great experience, as I do a lot of work with individuals and local hip hop scene, that is was a MUCH different experience.

Over the years I have seen them evolve from a garage band (literally) into a very talented group with an amazing show! They got great talent and amazing music. They are awesome to hear and even better to watch live! They're more unique then your local "garage" band. I wanted to share some of the shots I took as a preview to the HEMI 69 show. When I get the video up, I will link to that as well!

Taking new steps

Originally, I wanted to be a family and child photographer. That was my goal. That was my passion. However, I quickly realized, that I wanted to be more of a part of the photography then just focusing on kids and families. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE working with kids & families, but I wanted to add more to that, be more involved in the world of photography.

Photography can be a VERY difficult business to get in to. You need to prove you have a talent, show that you have what someone else can't offer, you need to find clientele and you need to gain the trust of them & prove in your work that they have a reason to come back to you and not another photographer. It's not an easy feat.

Earlier this year, beginning of summer time, we had a friend staying with us for a while. Good guy, we've known for years. He's always been into rapping, he mentioned the name of a local emcee who owned a studio. It got me thinking, that if I really wanted to expand my business, working with local artists was a great way to do it!

A few weeks ago, I made contact with the local emcee that our friend had mentioned, I figured why not give it a shot. Let him know I am out there and I am interested in working with him. I thought, it's a great opportunity for him and I! So, low and behold, I messaged him and he was totally interested! He told me to call him, so I did. When he called me back later that night.... unfortunately I was in the ER with my daughter. Ever try doing business on a cell phone in the ER, surrounded by screaming kids with a barely conscious child?! Let me tell you, its impossible lol! None the less, we agreed upon a finacial deal that suited both of us well. A union was born!

Tonight is the big night! My first photo shoot with him! A part of me, I will admit is VERY nervous, a part of me couldn't be more excited! This is a dream come true! Next Saturday night I have another gig with him at a local bar/pub where he will be holding an event.

You never can tell what the future holds, but when you have awesome talents like this local emcee to work with, you know the future will have good things in store! Look out for the post about how the first shoot when, some behind the scenes pics and of course, some pics of the guy himself Robbie G!!!

Introducing: Princess A

One model you will see a LOT of with Angel Wings Photography is Princess A! She's our main model! She's 5 & a bundle of energy. She's also our daughter! She was the one who named the company, she's the inspiration behind it all & she's a camera ham when shes in the mood! In her 5 years, I have taken well over a million pictures of her! She's my pride & joy!

Welcome to the official blog of Angel Wings Photography!

My name is Tee, I am the owner & head photographer at Angel Wings Photography in Guelph, Ontario. This blog is to share our stories, our adventures, our behind the scenes & most of all, our work, with anyone who would like to see it!

I am a mom of one precious little girl, who is my inspiration & who named the company (which is partially named after her and partially the name has become more meaningful since the loss of our twin girls to still birth). I have an amazing husband who is a wonderful support to the company.

Angel Wings Photography started in my head back in 2006, when I got pregnant with my daughter. In 2011, I officially started a business! We are now into our 10th official month & loving every minute of it!

We work with all kinds of people, from all kinds of backgrounds! I started out thinking I just wanted to do children & family photography, but quickly realized I had too much of a passion to just focus on that! So, we have progressed to events, other groups of people, sports, school photos, now going onto musicians, artists and concerts as well! I love all types of work but prefer to work within natural environments.

I tend to not do much, if any editing to my photos, UNLESS requested. The most I usually do is a crop and watermark. That's all. I like real photography, real looks, real people. People aren't perfect, so why would you want to make a picture look like its not the real thing?! I do edit photos if people wish, but its a rare occurrence!

I have taken schooling for photography but find that the best way to learn is through your work. Using your camera and experimenting! I have taken well over a million photos of my daughter in 5 years. Some days I pull the camera out and she gets angry, other days, shes a little ham! It's a big part of her life & she's showing signs of maybe following in mama's foot steps one day! She was 2 whens she got her first real camera! 4 when she got her first video camera!
